The Moon

 

Last Quarter occurs on 8th at h.06–07 I.S.T

First Quarter occurs on 22nd at h.05–11 I.S.T

 

New Moon occurs on 14th at h. 21–47 I.S.T

Full Moon occurs on 30that h. 08–58 I.S.T


The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 15th.

The Moon is at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 13th.The Moon is at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 24th.

The Moon passes about 1º north of Venus on 13th, about 1º north of Mercury on 14th, about 3ºsouth of Jupiter on 17th, about 3ºsouth of Saturn on 17th, about 4½ºsouth of Neptune on 21st, about 5½º south of Mars after midnight of 23rd i.e. on 24th and about 3½º south of Uranus on 25th.

 

Eclipse

 

Total Eclipse of the Sun: The phenomenon will occur on 14th– 15thDecember 2020. The eclipse begins at h.19-04 I.S.T. on 14th and ends at h.00-23 I.S.T. on 15th.The eclipse will not be visible in India.

The Earth

The Earth is at Winter Solstice on 21st.

Visibility of Planets:

 

Mercury: The planet is too close to the Sun to be visible during the month.

Venus: The planet rises about 2 hours to 1½ hours before sunrise throughout the month. 

Mars: The planet sets after local midnight throughout the month. It sets about 2 hours to 1½ hours after local midnight upto third quarter of the month, and from about 1½ hours to 1 hour after it for the remaining days of the month.

Jupiter: The planet sets after sunset throughout the month. It sets about 3½ hours to 3 hours after sunset upto first quarter of the month, about 3 hours to 2½ hours after it upto third quarter of the month, and about 2½ hours to 1½ hours after it for the remaining days of the month.

Saturn: The planet sets after sunset throughout the month. It sets about 3½ hours to 3 hours after sunset upto first quarter of the month, about 3 hours to 2½ hours after it upto third quarter of the month, and about 2½ hours to 1½ hours after it for the remaining days of the month.

Uranus: The planet sets after local midnight throughout the month. It sets about 3½ hours to 2½ hours after local midnight upto third quarter of the month, and from about 2½ hours to 1½ hours after it for the remaining days of the month.

 Neptune: The planet sets from close to local midnight time to ½ hour before it upto first quarter of the month , about ½ hour to 1 hour before it upto third quarter of the month and about 1 hour to 2 hours before it for the remaining days of the month. The planet is in Quadrature with the Sun on 10th.


 

Conjunction of Planets:

Mercury passes about 4½0north of Antares (Jyestha) on 8th. 

Jupiter passes about ½0south of Saturn on 21st. 

Venus passes about 5½0north of Antares (Jyestha) on 23rd.
