The Moon


Full Moon occurs on 6th at  h. 12-33 I.S.T Last Quarter occurs on 13th h. 11-55 I.S.T.
New Moon occurs on 20th  at  h. 11-00 I.S.T. First Quarter occurs on 28th h 8-24 I.S.T.
   
The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 21st.
The Moon is at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 13th and at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 27th.

 

The Moon passes about 1° south of Neptune on 6th, about 4½° south of Uranus on 9th, about ½ ° south of Venus on 18th, very close to Mars and Mercury on 19th, about 3½° north of Jupiter on 22nd and about 3½° north of Saturn on 27th.


The Earth

The Earth is at Autumnal Equinox on 23rd.

 

The Planets

Visibility of Planets:

Mercury: The planet is too close to the Sun to be visible upto 1st of the month. Thereafter it reappears in the eastern sky before sunrise on 2nd and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight upto 26th of the month. It rises about ½ hour to 1 hour before sunrise during the period. Thereafter the planet is too close to the Sun to be visible for the remaining days of the month. The motion of the planet becomes Direct with respect to the Earth from 5th. It is in Greatest Western Elongation of about 18º from the Sun on 12th. The planet is in Perihelion or nearest to the Sun on 15th.

Venus:  The planet is a brilliant object visible in the eastern sky. It rises before sunrise and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight throughout the month. It rises about 2½ hours to 2 hours before sunrise during the period.

Mars:    The planet is too close to the Sun to be visible upto 8th of the month. Thereafter it reappears in the eastern sky before sunrise and rises about 1 hour to 1½ hours before it during the period.

Jupiter:  The planet is visible in the western sky after sunset and sets about 2 hours to 1½ hours after it upto second quarter of the month and about 1½ hour to 1 hour after it for the remaining days of the month.

Saturn:   The planet sets before local midnight throughout the month. It sets about ½  hour to 1 hour  before it upto first quarter of the month ,about 1 hour  to 1½ hours before it upto third quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it for the remaining days of the month.

Uranus:   The planet rises after sunet and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight throughout the month. It rises about 2½ hours to 2 hours after it upto first quarter of the month, about 2 hours to 1½ hour after it  upto third quarter of the month and about 1½ hours to 1 hour after it for the remaining days of the month.

Neptune:  The planet sets around sunrise time to one hour before it upto third quarter of the month and about 1 hour to 1½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month . The planet is in Opposition with respect to the Sun on 5th.


Conjunction of Planets:

Mars passes about 1 º north of Regulus (Magha) on 5th

Jupiter passes about 3 ½ ºnorth of Spica(Chitra) on 5th.

Mercury passes about ½ º south of Regulus (Magha) on 10th.

Mercury passes very close to Mars on 16th.

Venus passes about ½ º north of Regulus (Magha) on 20th.
