The Moon

The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 16th.

The Moon is at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 14th.The Moon is at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 28th

 The Moon passes about 3º north of Venus on 13th, about1½º north of Mercury on 14th, about2½ºsouth of Jupiter on 19th, about3ºsouth of Saturn in the evening of19th, about 4½ºsouth of Neptune in the evening of 23rd, about5º south of Mars after midnight of25thi.e. on 26thandabout 3½º south of Uranus before midnight of27th. 

The Planets

Visibility of Planets:

Mercury: The planet rises before sunrise throughout the month. It rises about 1 hour to 1½ hours before sunrise upto second quarter of the month and about 1½ hours to 1 hour before it for the remaining days of the month. The planet is at Perihelion or nearest to the Sun in its orbit on 2nd. The motion of the planet becomes Direct with respect to the Earth from 3rd. The planet is in Greatest Western Elongation of about 19° from the Sun on 10th.

Venus: The planet rises about 2½ hours to 2 hours before sunrise throughout the month.

Mars: The planet sets before sunrise throughout the month. It sets from about 1½ hours to 2 hours before sunrise upto first quarter of the month, about 2hours to 2½ hours before it upto second quarter of the month, about 2½hours to 3 hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 3 hours to 3½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month. The motion of the planet becomes Direct with respect to the Earth from 14th.

Jupiter: The planet sets before local midnight throughout the month. It sets about 2 hours to 3 hours before local midnight upto second quarter of the month and about 3 hours to 3½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month.

Saturn: The planet sets before local midnight throughout the month. It sets about 2 hours to 2½ hours before local midnight upto second quarter of the month, about 2½ hours to 3 hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 3 hours to 3½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month.

Uranus: The planet sets from close to sunrise time to ½hour before sunrise upto first quarter of the month, about ½hour to 1 hour before it upto second quarter of the month, about 1hour to 1½ hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it for the remaining days of the month.

Neptune: The planet sets after local midnight throughout the month. It sets about 2 hours to 1½ hours after local midnight upto first quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 1 hour after it upto third quarter of the month, and from about 1 hour after local midnight time to close to it for the remaining days of the month. The motion of the planet becomes Direct with respect to the Earth from 29th.

Conjunction of Planet:

Venus passes about 40 north of Spica (Chitra)on 15th.
