The Moon

Full Moon occurs on 4th at h. 10-53 I.S.T.

Last Quarter occurs on 11th at h. 2-06 I.S.T.

New Moon occurs on 18th at h. 17-12 I.S.T.

First Quarter occurs on 26th at h. 22-33 I.S.T.

The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 20th.

The Moon is at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 6th and at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 22nd.

The Moon passes about 4º south of Uranus on 3rd, about 3º north of Mars on 15th, about 4º north of Jupiter and 4º north of Venus on 17th, about 7º north of Mercury on 20th, 3º north of Saturn on 21st, about 1º south of Neptune on 27th and about 4½ º south of Uranus  on 30th.


The Planets

Visibility of Planets:

 

Mercury:  The planet is too close to the Sun to be visible till 1st of the month. Thereafter it sets about 1 hour to 1½ hours after sunset for the remaining days of the month. The planet is in Greatest Eastern Elongation of about 22º from the Sun on 24th.

Venus:   The planet is a brilliant object visible in the eastern sky before sunrise and it rises about 1½ hours to ½ hour before it throughout the month.

Mars:    The planet rises before sunrise and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight throughout the month. It rises about 2½ hours to 3 hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 3 hours to 3½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month.

Jupiter:  The planet is too close to the Sun to be visible till 5th of the month. Thereafter it rises about ½ hour to 1 hour before sunrise upto second quarter of the month, about 1 hour to1½ hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it for the remaining days of the month.

Saturn: The planet sets after sunset throughout the month. It sets about 3 hours to 2½ hours after it upto first quarter of the month , about 2½ hours to 2 hours after it upto third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 1½ hours after it for the remaining days of the month.

Uranus: The planet sets before sunrise throughout the month. It sets about 1 hour to 1½ hours before it upto first quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it upto second quarter of the month, about 2 hours to 2½ hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 2½ hours to 3 hours before it for the remaining days of the month

Neptune: The planet sets about 1½ hours to 1 hour after local midnight upto first quarter of the month, about 1 hour to ½ hour after it upto third quarter of the month, about ½ hour  after it to ½ hour before it for the remaining days of the month. The motion of the planet becomes Direct with respect to the earth on 23rd.


Conjunction of Planet:

Venus passes about 4º north of Spica (Chitra) on 1st.

Mercury passes about 2½º north of Antares (Jyestha) on 12th.

Venus passes about ½º north of Jupiter on 13th.

Mars passes about 3½º north of Spica (Chitra) on 28th

Mercury passes about 3º south of Saturn on 28th.
