The Moon

New Moon occurs on 7th at h. 21-32 I.S.T.

First Quarter occurs on 15th at h. 20-24 I.S.T.

Full Moon occurs on 23rd at h. 11-09 I.S.T.

Last Quarter occurs on 30th at h. 05-49 I.S.T.


The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 8th.  

The Moon is at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 1st and 26th and at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 14th.

The Moon passes about 9½º north of Venus on 6th, about 4º north of Jupiter on 8th, about 6½º north of Mercury in the evening of 9th, about 1½º north of Saturn on 11th, about 1º south of Mars on 16th, about 2½º south of Neptune on 17th and about 5º south of Uranus after midnight of 20th.


The Planets

Visibility of Planets:

 

Mercury:   The planet sets about 1 hour to 1½ hours after sunset upto first quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 1 hour after it upto 20th of the month. Thereafter it becomes too close to the Sun to be visible for the remaining days of the month, being in Inferior Conjunction with the Sun on 27th. The planet is in Greatest Eastern Elongation of about 23° from the Sun on 6th. The planet is in Aphelion position or farthest from the Sun in its orbit on 16th.The motion of the planet becomes Retrograde with respect to the Earth from 17th. The planet is in Perihilion position or nearest to the Sun in its orbit on 29th.

Venus:   The planet rises about ½ hour to 1½ hours before sunrise upto first quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it upto second quarter of the month, about 2 hours to 2½ hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 2½ hours to 3 hours before it for the remaining days of the month. The motion of the planet becomes Direct with respect to the Earth from 16th.

Mars:   The planet sets around local midnight time to ½ hour before it during the month.

Jupiter:  The planet sets about 1 hour to ½ hour after sunset upto 12th of the month. Thereafter it becomes too close to the Sun to be visible for the remaining days of the month, being in Conjunction with the Sun on 26th.

Saturn: The planet sets about 3½ hours to 3 hours after sunset upto second quarter of the month, about 3 hours to 2½ hours after it upto third quarter of the month and about 2½ hours to 2 hours after it for the remaining days of the month.

Uranus: The planet sets about ½ hour to 1 hour before sunrise upto first quarter of the month, about 1 hour to 1½ hours before it upto second quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 2½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month.

Neptune: The planet sets about 2 hours to 1½ hours after local midnight upto first quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 1 hour after it upto second quarter of the month, about 1 hour to ½ hour after it upto third quarter of the month and about ½ hour after it to close to local midnight time for the remaining days of the month. The motion of the planet becomes Direct with respect to the Earth from 25th.


Conjunction of Planet:

Mercury passes about 2º north of Antares (Jyestha) on 9th.

Mercury passes about 4½º north of Antares (Jyestha) on 24th.

Mercury passes about ½º north of Jupiter on 28th.
