The Moon

Last Quarter occurs on 7th at h. 00-02 I.S.T.

New Moon occurs on 14th at h 01-13 I.S.T.

First Quarter occurs on 20th at h 16-21  I.S.T.

Full Moon occurs on 28th at h 10-23 I.S.T.

 

 

The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 15th.

The Moon is at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 2nd and 30th and at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 15th.


 

 The Moon passes about 1½º north of Saturn on 1st, about 3º north of Mars on 3rd, about 2½º south of Neptune on 6th, about 5º south of Uranus on 10th, about 4½º south of Mercury on 14th, about 2½º south of Venus on 16th, about 4º north of Jupiter after midnight of 23rd and about 2º north of Saturn on 28th.


The Earth

The Earth is at Summer Solstice on 21st.

The Planets

Visibility of Planets:

Mercury:  The planet is too close to the Sun to be visible, being in Superior Conjunction with the Sun on 6th. It again becomes visible on 15th and sets about 1 hour to 1½ hours after sunset for the remaining days of the month. The planet is in Perihilion position or nearest to the Sun in its orbit on 6th.

Venus:    The planet sets about 2½ hours after sunset throughout the month

Mars:     The planet rises before local midnight throughout the month. It rises about 2 hours to 2½ hours before it upto second quarter of the month, about 2½ hours to 3 hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 3 hours to 3½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month. The motion of the planet becomes Retrograde with respect to the Earth from 27th.

Jupiter:   The planet sets about 3½ hours to 3 hours after local midnight upto the first quarter of the month, about 3 hours to 2½ hours after it upto the second quarter of the month, about 2½ hours to 2 hours after it upto third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 1½ hours after it for the remaining days of the month.

Saturn:    The planet rises about 2 hours to 1½ hours after sunset upto first quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 1 hour after it upto second quarter of the month, about 1 hour to ½ hour after it upto third quarter of the month and thereafter the planet sets close to sunrise time at the end of the month. It is in Opposition with the Sun on 27th.

Uranus:    The planet rises after local midnight throughout the month. It rises about 2½ hours to 2 hours after it upto first quarter of the month, about 2 hours to 1½ hours after it upto third quarter of the month and about 1½ hours to ½ hour after it for the remaining days of the month.

Neptune:   The planet rises about ½ hour after local midnight to ½ hour before it upto second quarter of the month, about ½ hour to 1 hour before it upto third quarter of the month and about 1 hour to 1½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month. It is in Quadrature with respect to the Sun on 7th. The motion of the planet becomes Retrograde with respect to the Earth from 19th.

 


Conjunction of Planets:

 

Mercury passes about 6º north of Aldebaran (Rohini) on 4th.

 

Venus passes about 5º south of Pollux (Punarbasu) on 9th.

 

Mercury passes about 5º south of Pollux (Punarbasu) on 25th.
